Nu Kat is from Richmond, Virginia. All releases on this label are quite scarce. This is the most "common" of the Nu Kat releases, but is quite rare in itself. Impossible by The VelTones, Romance In The Spring by The Four Roses and My Lonely Friend by The Continental FIve are other must hear Nu Kat releases.

  • The Way R&B is supposed to be sung!

  • I agree with you!

  • One of my favorite songs, and one I have taught to groups I have sung with. However, I have this on the Relic LP, which presents a different take than this 45. I prefer the LP version, because everything is slightly more developed - lyric, smoothness, drum and chord changes, better guitar part. It's a little hard to believe that they went with this take for the 45. Other posts have the Relic take if you want to compare the two...

  • I looked and didn't see it. If you can find the link, please email it to me. I'd like to hear this version

  • does anyone have continental 5 on radel or continental label

  • I don't. Are they the same group?

  • Fine group - should've fired the bass player for not tuning it (or knowing the song!!). I'd like to hear the album version that was discussed....

Different Continental Five group, called Continental V

    Wake Me Up Girl- Continental(101)_67

    Wake Me Up Girl_ Radel(107)_67

This group song was recorded in 1959

Continental Five( with Lil Walters Band)- Perdelia/ Moe & Joe- Nu Kat (10132/ Idenitification number). Idenitification number shown since no selection number is used.

  • Correction! I went back and checked the Relic LP version and found that it is the same original sound material, but remixed (probably by Little Walter in Boston) to bring out some of the elements that are slightly hidden in the 45, making it, to my ears, a better listening experience, sez I.

  • @PJDooWop other group from texas-60s psychedelic - only two known 45s in existence-recorded at gold star now sugarhill-hoping someone might have access to them-thanks-great site -got lots of doowop on mine-all kinds of stuff
