@zhizian indeed, the idea is to separate a cavalry unit from your main force when your army reaches movement limit for this or that turn, because cavalry can still move forward (it has a larger campaign map movement range per turn than infantry); then you besiege the castle with just your cavalry unit and your main force joins the battle as reinforcements even though it's out of range on the campaign map; it saves you another turn because this way you capture a province at least one turn earlier

any tips on storming castle? I always have trouble with capturing enemy provinces, i tend to use auto-resolve but where is the fun in that?

@anonymousvagrant I'd recommend using siege weapons or surrounding the castle being out of range of enemy's archers, then rush one of the walls with katana samurai or other sword infantry, this way helps to minimize the losses at least; also, it's really better to fight siege battles manually because after the auto-resolve the castle is always damaged while if you are fighting manually you may avoid damaging the castle and that's another turn of tax income, recruitment and order in the province

I was playin on hard and when I became shogun I was not able to defend all my borders and did not have enough money to do anything... ships attack my borders far from where I have any ships, and then I got attacked from all clans and and each clan has like 2 giant armies and I only have 3... there's no way I can fight them all off and at the same time I am not gettin enough funds to have my economy stay positive... I feel like I don't have enough time to raise an army and defender all my borders

@dark The Keys to Victory:

1. Be careful as you approach the Realm Divide - don't go over it until you save at LEAST 70,000 gold.

2. Bribe allies to keep them in line as long as possible after Divide.

3. Build ONLY enhanced agents from the special provinces. Do not allow Divide without these regions. Then MAX them out - 5 of each type.

4. Do not sack cities.

5. Make sure your food matches your building strategy EXACTLY.

Everything else is gravy. Do it up!

grouping attack orders doesn't really work. group several archers and try to focus fire one unit- they'll just attack different units at their own will. you've got to individually select each unit and attack the unit you want...
