HEYLO lovelies! (:
A lot of you seem to like my hair color in the past few months and have been wondering what I did to get it. I already mentioned the information in my Hairstyle 101 video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZey76ynpOk) but many of you still insisted I do a tutorial with it.
SOO here you go! I wasn't planning to dye my hair but it kept getting lighter and my roots were too obvious T^T Since I loved this hair color, I picked up another box at Target (for $7). It didn't disappoint me once again; I really like my color right now. Let's just hope it doesn't turn dull too soon!
Since I have virgin black hair at the top of my head and faded dyed medium-reddish hair at the bottom, I can see how this hair dye will result in both cases.
I personally like it better on my dyed sections because the reddish tint is more vivid. You can see how it makes a gradient here!

The top is the result on virgin dark hair; the bottom is the result for previously dyed reddish-brownish hair.
If you're wondering what I dyed my hair with before I used this hair dye for the first time, visit this album :D

Now, if you're planning to dye your hair at home (&especially if it's your first time), here are some tips!
1. Make sure that you are not allergic to the hair dye. You can do a mini test on the back of your hand first.
2. Make sure your hair color is compatible with your skin tone. Please don't ask me what will suit you because I wouldn't know D; This is where you should do some research on your own! You should find out what skin tone you are and look for hair color recommendations that would suit you most.
2. Make sure that your hair is unwashed for at least 2 days before you dye it so your natural hair oils will help to protect your hair & scalp from the chemicals and minimize the damage.
3. Wear a shirt that you don't mind getting dirty and throwing away (since the hair dye will stain it!)
4. Rub some Vaseline along your hairline if you don't want the hair dye to stain your skin or just be careful! If you do get any stains on your skin, wipe it off with a paper towel and some water right away.
5. Lay down lots of newspaper on the floor to protect it like I recommended in the video.
4. Blow dry your hair while you have your shower cap on. The heat will help to intensify the color.
5. After you've rinsed out the hair dye and conditioned your hair, it's best to let your hair air dry so it won't have to be more stressed. If you're in a hurry or are impatient like me, you can blow dry it but don't hold your blow dryer too close.
6. If you have long thick hair, you should use 2 hair dye boxes. For reference, one box was perfect for me!
7. Take note that I'm NOT a professional. Please try at your own risk ^^;
GOOD LUCK!

@tr0ubles86
It does since it's heat but if you keep it to a minimum, you should be fine (:

I REAALLY want to dye my hair like this, I've never dyed my hair before and my hair is like black but lighter on the bottom...I'm turning 13 in about a month and my mom won't let me dye my hair until I'm like 20...Any advice to somehow change her mind?

Perhaps you could make compromises with her? Try going for something subtle so it won't be a dramatic change ^^;
