I think Tongo is such a talented bird. I have a congo african grey only 8 months old. He sais words and phrases very occasionally, but they seem to be appropriate. He loves to wistle. Do you discourage your bird from whistling to encourage him to talk? When did he start to talk?

We encourage both whistling and talking. We are not sure of Tongo's exact age. We were told that he was about one when we got him. At first Tongo just did a few whistles but within a few weeks he took off running with words and phrases. We could here him practicing quietly. Then one day he just started. After that it was like an explosion of words.

It has been a very sad time in my life as I recently lost my best friend to a terrible bird disease. Your video's of Tongo brought great joy to me. Tongo is a beautiful bird loved the video. Rosie

I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot even imagine losing Tongo. Did your fid get pdd? There are support groups for that. If you would like the name of the group I will send it to you.

Deb, Thank you for replying this is 123 tash the bird I have recently lost was (MOE) an African Grey we lost him to aspergillus. Please everyone be aware of this horfic disease. I would be most grateful if you can supply me with some names of support groups. Thank you

The group I belong to is a group for PDD. I had raised money for them a few years back but I am sure they would be a good support group for you. Many of the fids with PDD get aspergillus and other secondary infections. I will send the link via your mailbox.
