What is the musctitle?
-
@troyger1 Yea all I was saying is that the port length is what limits it..not how close it is to the wall.
-
@kintarben if he wants to limit airflow that much then thats lookin good
-
@troyger1 Not really, port length is what limits air flow...as long as he is a diameters length from the back that will not limit anything
-
@DesignsByRyan Having built many enclosures, the "rule of thumb" that a port should be at least it's diameter away from the back is just that, a "rule of thumb". With a large xmax the problem only gets worse. When the port is too close to the rear you're making the air rush to the center where it compresses then has to make a sharp 90 to get out the port. My rule is 1.5-2x port diameter from the rear wall especially with high excursion drivers expected to opperate over a wide frequency range.

@lazzer408 It looks like they're at least the port's width away from the back wall, which is plenty. You can even get closer than that with a "free-standing" port since the air has a complete 360° area to enter and exit the opening.

Your ports are too close to the back wall.

@lazzer408 really? I haven't purposed anything that wouldn't work efficiently.

@LIFT4POWER he is right it could limit the airflow if u have a sub with a wellsized xmax

@troyger1 This was designed with high XMAX drivers

does the original subwoofer box(the one inside) just get screwed/glued to th outer enclosure?? and does a back go on the outer enclosure??? if so or if not why?? and would i beable to use this desighn in my architecural design class? and if i can how do the specs work??? ( how would i know how big to make the both of the enclosures{the outside/inside})

@36MICHAELFUNKE You can surely use this in you class.the model is shown with the top off.the middle chamber partitions are screwed and glued. The square in the rear is shown with the access panel removed. The size would be determined by the driver and how parabolic you want the results.
