@colemcgill13 it is:p

@theotherhomer I doubt that changing the ammo will help. First, check the firing pin tang for damage. I would then check the firing pin for excess protrusion. Slam firing is a VERY dangerous condition in the M1.

@lliamcoombs You really don't know your ass from a hole in the ground do you?

One correction--That 5 million 400 thousand also included post war examples. You forgot to mention International Harvester and Harrington Richardson-both made Garands, but only post war. Springfield also made some post war examples.

i thought it was a 30-06

funny how soldiers said screw this m1 give me my 1903. then they said screw this m16 give me an m14. when the m16 is replaced how many soldiers will say screw this thing give me and m16. but one thing all generations of soldiers have in common is that "basic training was a lot tougher in my day" and "we had values and respected our elders"

The M-1 is a great weapon. I had fired one at a rifle range and it was 100 % accurate
with the open sights. W.W. two was won with this soldiers weapon. JosephObe

Damn, I need that pic of the chrome Garand in hi-res.
-
@Revesvett I'll take two then:)

Chrome looks nice but i think good old fashioned pakerized metal is much more attractive
Wonder what one of the Chrome presentations Garands would be valued at ?! Beautiful...........

@eifersucht2 well said if i had a choice id probably march into battle with the m1 garand for sure, semi auto fire out of a 30-06 would put the fear of god into the enemy compared to the gay little 5.56
