A starfield and nebula skybox developed using Max as a painting program, the nebula is just a texture overlayed to the starfield.
The stars are still too much brilliant and must be dimmed a bit to make it more realistic.

  • Hi, I painted this skybox plain in Photoshop using a method that I consider obsolete and not friendly at all.

I recently developed a method based Max rendering that is MUCH more friendly and quick and I plan to create a video tutorial for it soon (probably along the next week).

I will publish it on the NeoAxis forum, so if you come to that community you will find it.

  • Is there a way you could build a decent tutorial on getting this done? I've recently decided to make the switch from Torque to Neoaxis and this sky box would be amazing for my space action game.

  • Thank you, that was just a "feasibility study", and the camera (I used a dirty Kodak to shoot it) did not help at all :D

  • haha that looks pretty cool. the colors are a bit intense, but it's a nice skybox.

  • If you are talking about the skybox, it's taken from original astronomical pictures and some work in Photoshop :)

  • Looks brilliant. how'd you do it?
