@alonx12345 So now, making the Jewish people look too Jewish in a story about the Jews is considered anti-Semitic? Wow. How about that whole first half of the Bible where the Jews claim they are chosen above everyone else in God's eyes? Let's just call that anti-everyone else.

That was AWESOME!!!!! Wow. Everybody in the cast was amazing. And the actor who was in the 1973 film version was always my favorite, but, I think I just found a Pilate I may like even better. :) Bravo to everyone, powerful musical. I think everyone should see it at least once, regardless of their religion or even lack thereof.

Common wisdom, at the time, believed that more than thirty-nine lashes, of a very brutal whip, would kill -- hence, thirty-nine lashes.

@hazzagal the 39 lashes are due to the fact that according to roman law, 40 lashes were considered an execution. 39 lashes was the maximum number permitted without a death sentence.

I love how much thought they put into the number of lashes, because 40 means "many" in the bible, such as 40 days and 40 nights etc. It means that Pilate couldn't do "many". It's so clever.
