With version 4 of their Creative Suite, Adobe has released a new industrial-strength video encoder -- and it handles H.264 F4Vs as well as VP6 and Spark FLVs. This short tutorial walks you through using the new Adobe Media Encoder to encode Flash video. • No, no video effects. As you might know, Adobe has a tool called After Effects that has effects that make Movie Maker look like a tiny little joke of a toy.

  • does this works as a webcam?

  • Hello anayden: No, Adobe Media Encoder does not take webcam input. I believe Sorenson Squeeze does.

  • Install what? There are no source files for this lesson. You can install the demo of the video encoder from Adobe's site.

  • This tool? Meaning, the media encoder? It's primary use is to encode video for Flash, but can be used to transcode audio and video between multiple formats.

  • Thanks for addressing the black letterboxing at 2:17.

I get requests for specific video sizes, e.g. 529x305 FLV. My setting are "same as source,"yet in Output, I get side letterboxing. The only remedy is to adjust the video width, which would stretch the video.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • Not quite sure I get it. There is no 'Same as source' option for dimensions in the CS4 encoder (tho you can leave 'resize video' unchecked). There is 'same as source' option for framerate, just below the dimensions. So, you need to tell me what you have those dimensions set to, as well as what the source dimensions are.

    Merry Xmas.

  • thanks i subbed! pls sub back :D

  • no video effects?.. like fast fowarding or like change the colour in the video to grey colour? You know... like windows movie maker.

  • is this what people use to make like a picture on a clip move with the person?

  • Yea, me 2... its soooo weird to me...im trying to learn how to use it.

  • Yep, I have the same problem and it's very annoying. The old media encoder cs3 did not add the bars at the top and bottom. So basically the only way around this issue is to use the cs3 encoder or to use sorenson squeeze.

  • Did you find a solution for this? I have a 640x360 mp4 video that AME insists on making into a 480x360 video. When I force the output width to be 640x360 it adds left and right borders as you mentioned. FFMPEG on the other hand outputs the correct dimensions by default.
