Mieczysław Fogg & Orkiestra Syrena Rekord pod dyr. Iwo Wesby'ego - Młodym być i więcej nic (To Be Young - And Nothing More!) Walc z filmu "Szczęśliwa 13-tka" (Waltz from film "A Lucky Thirteen") (Muzyka: Petersburski, Starski Tekst: Schlechter), Syrena-Electro 1938

NOTE: The words of this Polish waltz from the year 1838, are as old as the world and in any languege they sound the same simple and convincing. There's no gold or silver, no fame or social standing that can reward the youth, when it's gone. Being young, and having the whole life and wold ahead of you - it's all.

  • Lovely tune, great photos.

I long for the days when people still wore nice decent bathing suits.

I don't go to the beach anymore, what people wear there these days makes me feel unwell.

  • Hi, I share your feelings

  • the sweet memories that reside in the heart, and the heart that does not now beat so intensely.....bitter sweet . it brings a melancholy and a longing this lost youth....oh, hum. i will look up in the starry, night sky in awe and wonder and think on this spectacle that is life.... thanks for the post.

  • Hi Billmurr, your post as usually - so romantic and so true... Thanks. I am glad that a Polish hit from 1938 is still appealing to so many hearts nowadays... :-)

  • Grzegorz,

YOU have totally outdone yourself with this video, it is a MASTERPIECE and goes immediatedly to my Great Grzegorz Playlist. Fog is Fantastic and the lyrics are PRECIOUS.

To have a LOVE, to be in LOVE and to be LOVED that is all that matters and to be 20 years old! Your photos are FABULOUS and so is YOUR video!

    Dziekuje :-)

  • Genia, I see that you very well understood Polish lyric. This song was played on piano and sung by Lucyna Messal -it was the last role of the grande vedette of Polish operetta and vadeuville of Teens and Twenties. There's a scene when the hero sits with his girfriend by the table in empty little cafe and Messal, who acts a retired actress paid for playing for the guests, begins to sing that song which tells about her passed beauty and youth. It's a moving scene in that rather stupid comedy

  • I have just landed back in Israel from a 5 days trip to Warsaw . My 1st time... In spite of all, something of this music's atmosphere is still left, if one really looks for it. Thanks again for reminding of this song. My late folks would have loved this for sure. "stare dobre czasy".

Sorry. My reply. 1974. I was a very litlle boy, Adria cafe, Moniuszki Street, Warsaw, Poland. I had a Coke & ice cream, Edward Gierek, the commie leader of Poland was seatting at the next table. Gierek brought Coke to Poland.. Fogg, very old, sung it. Came to say Good Day,

Sir. Gierek told him, Sir, Silver and Gold are Nothing, Diamonds are Forever. Fogg laughed. I dindn't undersatnd. Till very later.

  • dziękuję za dodanie na YT. Pozdrawiam

  • Ale te zdjecia sa ze stanow. W 55 sekundzie widac w tle pomnik waszyngtona.

  • Jakie piękne dziewczyny dwudziestu lat! Rok później Polska atakuje maniak, który nie wie jak tańczyć walca i krakowiaka i nie wie, jak dbać o młode dziewczyny!
