Just ahead of their forthcoming full-length CD album on Section entitled "Argonautica", Russian downtempo supremos Koan treat us to an impeccably composed and produced taster in the form of the future classic "Circe's Touch". Named after the mythological sorceress Circe, who used her skills with herbs, drugs and magic potions to bewitch her enemies, and who was described in Homer's Odyssey as "The loveliest of all immortals", the original edit of the track lives up this heritage with an ceaseless cascade of uplifting and beautiful melodies from start to finish. Koan are masters at telling a story in their music and conveying emotion and atmosphere, and this release is dripping with both.
