The Beatles are certainly influential, and without them there would be no U2 or Stones, ETC. However, U2 have been relevant (ie they have been a legitimate band producing good material for over three decades. The Beatles did not make it one decade. I love the Beatles but they are not a rock band in the sense of U2. The beartles had lennon and Mccartney who were great on their own, U2 has to have all members to be great. who would by a solo album from the edge or Bono? They are the greatest BAND

Good live act certainly - like their rocky stuff. Relevant longer than any band in history...I'd say the Beatles had more fame and continue to have more influence than any other band.
