A tribute for the Adeptus Mechanicus and their greatest creations - the Imperial Titans and Navy starships. Done with a big help from Youtube user kakalunga, who sent me a pack of pics showing Titans. Thank you!

--The Adeptus Mechanicus--
The Adeptus Mechanicus is a technological organization, often known as the Priesthood of Mars. It holds a monopoly on technological knowledge in the Imperium. Their Forge Worlds turn out the Imperium's most powerful and advanced weaponry and equipment. The Techpriests are vital in maintaining much of the Imperium's more technologically advanced equipment, not the least of which is the Emperor's life-sustaining Golden Throne.

Although the Emperor is venerated by the Adeptus Mechanicus for his ancient knowledge and comprehension, the techpriests do not follow the Imperial Cult, but a wholly different religion, known as the Cult Mechanicus or the Cult of the Machine. According to its teachings, knowledge is the supreme manifestation of divinity, and all creatures and artefacts that embody knowledge are holy because of it. A man's worth is only the sum of his knowledge - his body is simply an organic machine capable of preserving intellect. To the Cult Mechanicus, machines represent a higher form of life than that created through biological evolution. The ultimate object of the cult's veneration is known as the Machine God (or the Deus Mechanicus), which is believed to have given rise to all technologies and made them manifest through his chosen illuminati among mankind. The Machine God may be the C'tan Void Dragon, who has been entombed on Mars for millenia and was worshipped by the Cult Mechanus before the rise of the Emperor. The Cult Mechanicus await the arrival of the Omnissiah, a prophesised physical avatar of the Machine God. On his arrival at many of the worlds, the Cult Mechanicus recognised the Emperor as the long awaited Omnissiah, however with his ascension of the Golden Throne at the dawn of the Imperial Age this belief was largely discredited.

--The Imperial Titans--
The Collegia Titanica is the section of the Adeptus Mechanicus that includes the Imperial Titans, the colossal god-machines. The Collegia is divided into divisions, such as Divisio Mandati, Divisio Telepathica and Divisio Investigatus. Most important is the Ordo Militaris which actually includes the Battle Titans, and is itself further divided into "Legions" or "Orders".

A Princeps commands his Titan through the link to the Titan's "spirit", controlling the Titan's movements through his thoughts. The Titan becomes an extension of him; when damaged, he feels pain, when victorious, he feels elation. This link grows so strong that his mental health will slowly deteriorate when unlinked. Because of the immense power of a Titan's spirit, the Princeps must also possess the strongest of wills to survive such a link. The Princeps' relation to the Titan is similar to that of a Space Marine within a Dreadnought, however Titans eventually form their own minds from centuries of experience. The link in some cases gets so strong that the Princeps becomes physically-integrated into the Titan, and cannot be removed until he dies.

  • @Erikjust Actually, if the the Void Dragon ever escaped, it would single handedly cause the fall of the Imperium, because all technology that Mankind has, is derived from the teachings of the Void Dragon. Who is the C'Tan god of technology, he can control tech. So it would cause all of the Imperium's machines to turn on them. From the lowliest Lasgun, to Entire Space fleets.

  • @Erikjust

That's damn scary. But then again the Techpriests often messes around in Necron tombs calling the small spider-like things there nice, while wanting them to come alive, which Ciaphas Cain thought a plate-sized spider like that nasty Brazilian one would look like a cuddly pet in comparison.
