@Alucard9692010 I've left mine out in sub-freezing in my car, and in direct sunlight for a long time in my car. I haven't noticed any performance issues. Maybe you had some bad luck; sorry mate :<

i got a brand new nook reader a while ago... i broke after a month of use, and being in Europe i do not have any warranty.
my friend's nook broke a day later.... it seems that there nooks have a serious problem, if you take them from your home outside in a backpack or something , and it's winder out.... the temperature difference will break the nook completely.
