This is the opening section of Mr. Mackey's wildly entertaining trombone concerto. The guest soloist, Nitzan Haroz (principal trombone with The Philadelphia Orchestra) had a mix-up with the pages in his score (who knew?) and asked the audience if it would be okay if the Wind Symphony played the first section again so we could hear the incredible trombone acrobatics we missed the first time around. Well.. Second times a charm. It opens with partial comments from composer, Mackey, who was thrilled to witness a "do-over"! It was well worth it.

  • was that john in the beginning? lol

  • the last minute of all of Mackey's songs are so fucking batshit insane

  • This is awesome! :)

  • Seeing West Point Band premiere this piece at West Chester was awesome. But this performance was so...I can't even find the words to describe how great a performance this was. And being able to sit next to Mackey was like having a side of bacon with that delicious performance

  • Wow - thank you for capturing this! I'll never forget this performance.
