OK Go has gone to the dogs in their latest music video - quite literally. The music video for OK Go's song "White Knuckles" was released on September 19, 2010. The video was available on OK Go's YouTube channel and on the band's official website.
In the "White Knuckles" video, OK Go's four band members are all wearing white outfits as they move in sync, rearranging wastebaskets, shelving, chairs and other objects. All the while, several dogs are hopping on and off of chairs and weaving between objects in unison. At one point in the clip, the band members allow the dogs to jump on them. The 3:36 video, which was reportedly shot in just one take, also includes a cameo appearance by a goat.
So, who are these canine video stars? OK Go says that a majority of the dogs involved in the video were rescued from area shelters. The band posted a message on its official website urging people to donate to animal rescue groups, along with a direct link to the ASPCA. OK Go plans to release "video packages" for sale on its website, with a portion of the proceeds going to animal rescue organizations. Bassist Tim Nordwind said that while he knew working with the choreographed canines would be challenging, he was never worried. Nordwind told ''New York Magazine:''
"There's the saying, 'Never work with kids or dogs' in the film business, but I never went into panic mode. We were just working with people who were very good with dogs, as well as working with dogs who were very good at being dogs."
The video for "White Knuckles" is similar to OK Go's 2006 video for the song "Here It Goes Again." In that video, band members were also performing intricately choreographed stunts on various treadmills. The "Here It Goes Again" video went viral, with millions of viewers watching the band leap in unison from treadmill to treadmill. "White Knuckes" appears destined to do the same. Within two days of its release, the video had well over one million views on YouTube.
