Recorded sometime mid-1970's. Olivia Newton-John singing the classic Carpenters track - 'Yesterday, Once More'. Poorish sound quality, so have adapted the video to suit the mood....

  • Its awful! I really had NO idea of Livvy singing some songs till I saw ur movies.Gosh!

    So many rarities!

  • Fair comment. But please remember, this was a copy of a copy of a copy, so the sound quality has deteriorated a little. I have no doubt the original sound would have come across slightly better. Although, as I also admit, this was Karen's song... :o)

  • some songs are better left untouched

cos they belong to the artiste who first sang it

ONJ is a great singer BUT this song doesn't suit her

  • All points of view greatly received :-) But maybe, if in the recording studio.....? Karen did the distinctive version, so was an extremly hard act to follow though.

  • 'Yesterday Once More' is the signature tune of Karen Carpenter, the moment I hear the iconic intro at the start of the song , Karen's face light up in my mind as for ONJ, nobody could touched her nor replaced her in 'I honestly love you' both songs belong to two different great singers and are unique :)

  • It's a rare moment when two people can agree on music :-)

  • I listen to this telling myself it's a tribute to Karen from Olivia, the two good friends.

Thanks, Livvy, and Thanks to Dazmas06 for posting it. It's a combination of my two favorite singers.

  • I think it's a beautiful rendition and honestly don't understand the criticism. We are talking about 2 of the most beautiful voices of the last century yet they are different and of course Karen's more suited for her songs. Still Karen wanted to sing like Olivia as her 1980 solo albums clearly shows and ONJ did a great job singing Karen's tunes. Btw the most suited voice for Karen's songs IMHO is Rita Coolidge who also has the same deep rich melancholic voice.

  • Beautiful nice ancient sounds !!

  • I love ONJ and Karen but this song's good singer is only Karen .

  • The sadness in Karen's voice made this song work.

  • @gooty64 i dont think Olivia should have retired she is just great!!!!! this version of her is just great

  • @gooty64 i like olivia's version yes it;s not Karen but if anyone has the right to sing it it would be ONJ

  • Puke. I hate this version. Olivia should have retired-and BEFORE Physical. Some people just don't when to SHUT UP.

  • This does indeed sound like a tribute to KC from ONJ. It's quite lovely. BTW: Karen did NOT want to sing like Olivia; why would she? She knew how great and unique she was. No evidence exists which backs up this story. Karen always changed her voice to adapt to the songs she was singing.

  • it would have been nice to hear Karen Carpenter and Olivia Newton John, singing together, I wonder why they never did a duet? has anybody ever thought about that?

  • It's nice to hear her sing her friend's song. She isn't saying this is better or anything. It's like a tribute. Or something like they did on Solid Gold. It's just different.
