Well alright. Personally I prefer plausible performances to the ones that are clearly over acted. But that's just me. I am not a huge fan of actors or acting in general anyway, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

I didnt say it was bad, i just think "over acting" was better performance. Sure is not what the director wanted, but from an acting perspective he did better.

I honestly don'y understand what you people thought was so bad with his performance in the released film. I thought he nailed. He didn't "over act" at all, it certainly wasn't a muted performance, and I believe he was an incredibly plausible actor with an equally plausible performance for the part. I mean everyone is a critic, I get that, but some of you people really gotta be splitting the hairs pretty thin to be grinding an axe over his performance.

It was just a better performance than the actual film. Sure both needed work. But if i had to choose i would go with the screen test and work with that.

The emotional emphasis was dry in the film clips.

It seems a pattern with Tom Hardy, he pours a ton of emotion into his first performance, then the final cut is almost entirely different.

I don't really get how people are coming to the conclusion that the screen test was better. Certainly it was good, but their were CLEARLY some dialog inefficiencies and awkward pauses, as well as a few sentence structure discrepancies. In addition, the emotional emphasis was dry, and not particularly matching to various parts of the script. All this is understandable because it is only a screen test, NOT a finished performance, but is it better than the movie? I think not.
