This video is an introduction to Dune: The Novel Cut

Elaborating a little more that's in the video

This edit was done for non-profit reasons. I do not intend to sell this. I merely want to be able to share this with everyone.
This re-edit was actually done for part of a large school project.
I've kept the Universal logo on the movie, to show that I know and respect that Dune was a Universal production (and you're probably thinking 'Then why did he re-edit their footage?')
But if Universal just saw what I was able to do, I would hope they would allow this re-edit to remain available to Dune fans.

I don't want this re-edit to go the way of the Dune fanfilm, and no one ever be allowed to see it.

Ugh I'm rambling I know

I hope I get positive feedback for this, so I may post the actual re-edit

  • Might also be good to have it in playlist format available from your main page. Thanks for sharing this with us :)

  • I remember going into the theater by myself so no one would talk to me during the movie. And the goose bumps I had when the princess gave her opening monologue.

I thought, that a re edit could have been done, or a directors cut, that made more sense.

The weirding way was a martial art. Not a sound amplification. That ruined the whole movie. That alone with some good martial art stunt people could have made this an amazing movie.

  • Just found these videos, there goes my evening....

  • @zambot3 and they were all put in the wrong order, in such a hack fashion that David Lynch did not want his name attached. SpiceDivers version, (and I am assuming this one as well) have them put in the proper place according to the book and the script.

  • How is this different when compared to SpiceDivers epic second fan version? Just curious how it is different if at all

  • the extended cut has all the scenes you mention, released on dvd 2006 buy it!

  • NBC has apparently blocked access to all but 2 chapters. A pity, I just finished reading Dune and would have liked to see your cut of the film.

  • Is there a way someone could torrent this into one big file?

  • That was quite a culture deed to make it all... and to post it on youtube works well :) If Universal was such Evil and Greedy... it should take heed and do this very thing to superduper hd release and push it to theaters, or at least to Mega Collector Dune dvd boxes... and/or blu-ray super-detail home-theater versions... "dune... 20 years in the making... from fans... to fans..." :) (oh yeah... and they should pay You some for all the work and time :) )

  • Yes, yes, yes, YES!!!!!!!!! I want this!

  • I'm a fan of the novel and i think this movie is an example of how novels should stay books. After this disaster was a box-office flop and even among critics, Lynch vowed never to do hollywood movies again because he went outside his comfort zone and failed miserably, thank god for Blue Velvet which he returned back to being himself and to independent cinema. This movie is also a prime example of how NOT to make a blockbuster, rule#1 Do Not Hire David Lynch.
