Independence Day (Elliott Smith Cover)

I don't have any tabs for Elliott Smith songs, and I really don't want to tab them myself. All I can do to help you is show a closeup video of how I play a certain song, and I hope that can be clear enough for everyone.

Open C tuning, which is the way he plays it. It's a little fast, but I didn't want to waste a lot of time in the video... I learned it from one of the live videos shown here on youtube, so... enjoy!

Man NintenjoPower, you're really great. Just out of curiosity since your bending seems really easy, what gauge and brand of strings do you use?

I actually don't know what gauge or brand of strings I use. I change them purely out of necessity, or when I feel like my sound is dead (nothing beats brand new acoustic strings). For the time being, I'm using... (goes to check what he just bought) d'addario 10 or 11 gauge (the light set, whatever gauge that is).

the reason his bending seems so easy, is because it's 2 steps down in Open C tuning.

Very very good! And you figured it out old school style with no tabs! Impressive! Your tone is very clear with nearly every note ringing out. Bravo! The only comment I was going to make was on the tempo, but you addressed that in your info :) maybe you should do it again at tempo and with a little more light so we can learn.

never cried from the original, but i cried listening to your cover. no lie. amazing cover, i feel it has more emotion built up in it, probably due to the faster tempo. excellent work.
