Thanks for the video. In 1994 I witness one of these test right in front of the testing facilities gate. You could feel the shock waves in your body. At that time the test did last less than 10 seconds and depending on the weather conditions it could break windows in the nearest town.

You can imagine what it was like when they tested the Saturn V F-1 engines. The 3 shuttle engines burn half a ton of fuel per second while the 5 Saturn engines went through 15 tons every seconds! Its all amazing stuff!!

Oh man, I remember when I was 7 or 8 we lived on the outer edge of the "Buffer Zone" . Made our house shake like you wouldn't belive.

@vi70h The reason it makes a cloud is because water is held in a take under the engine to cut down on the vibration so the engine does not shake itself apart. 300,000 gallons of water was dumped in to the take under the space shuttles before they were launched and that is why there was such a big steam cloud coming out of each side of the launch platform before the shuttle even started moving.
