This video, filmed on March 15, 2011, shows the burial ceremony for Frank Woodruff Buckles, the United States Of America's last World War I Veteran. First, the burial area is shown prior to the arrival of the Caisson and the mourners. The funeral parade featuring the casket, seven horses and the Old Guard is next. This is followed by the raising of the American Flag and a reading. Finally the band is seen and heard performing "Taps" and "America The Beautiful". This is the final salute to America's last Great War Veteran. Thank you for your service to this nation. Farewell my friend.

Photographs of the viewing and burial can be seen at this blog entry: http://michaeltheresearcher.blogspot.com/2011/03/frank-buckles-viewing-and-fu...

  • what he has done wil not be forgotten.

  • @armydude9123 Thank you. That is right.

  • The WW1 last Surivior

  • @MastaHuey Indeed

  • With the death of Cpl Buckles, we are witnessing the end of a era. Likewise, our WW2 veterans are passing away at the rate of 900 to a 1,000 a day. Calvin Coolidge said"The nation that forgets its veterans, will itself be forgotten.'

  • @berlinbear40 Yes, you are correct on all counts. It is truly the end of a very important era. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

  • @Ullarsskald1989 Hello. Thank you for watching and sharing that story. I paid particular attention to when Peter Chiarelli handed Susannah the Flag ... it was very powerful and very emotional. I will never forget it.

  • Thank you...this was especially poignant for me, as my dad received military honors at his interment ceremony a year ago...I did pretty good that day, until the USAF Master Sergeant knelt before my mom with the folded flag and the country's thanks...I wept then, and I shed some tears now.

  • @tkemmere69 You played a very significant role during the Funeral. It must have been a profound honor. Thank you for your service.
