Donna Loren performing her Capitol Records release of "Ninety Day Guarantee", in June of 1965. Unlike most of the 'cover tunes' she was usually given, this was original material written by Lester Carr. The record was arranged and conducted by H.B. Barnum, produced by Dave Axelrod and recorded at the iconic Capitol Records building in Hollywood. This was the flip side of another Northern Soul favorite "Ten Good Reasons".

Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like Batman, The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Milton Berle and various game shows. She's released 22 singles, an album and 2 CD's. Ms Loren is currently in the studio again making music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ-wN37G2rs

  • lester was the man...my friend and one good song writer who wrote this song! ninty day guarantee..

  • The crowd looked bored, but polite.

  • good track a little too polished. Donna Loren was all over the television back then but never on the charts. Nice attempt at doing the jerk at the end of song.

  • Simply wonderful!

  • never knew that, thanks for the knowledge

  • This from "American Bandstand". Pretty much says it all regarding Donna... terrific singer, less than stellar material, less than enthusiastic crowd. Donna had the potential to be huge, but just never quite got the songs/marketing. Still, her talent was phenomenal, as well as her (largely unfulfilled) potential. Good clip!

  • nice early girlie track nice post
