  • @JMaggot69 It is called doom metal. You need to get your music facts straight. Real emo music is influenced by punk. I have no idea where this whole pussy thing came in for emo. You have obviously never heard metalcore before also, that is some good shit. I don't like genres, but if you are going to talk shit about them then at least learn what they are first. You need to not be so close minded on music and try it before you diss it. Anyways have a good one. And great song!

  • @13eleth emo isn't influenced by punk rock, emo is influenced by that pop rock soft stuff that everyone labels "pop punk" despite carrying no elements of classic punk rock. If you try to tell me the clash, the ramones, black flag, minor threat, dead kennedys..any of those guys are responsible for emo? just..no. no way man. the principals, the attitude, the lifestyles, personalities. so different. I'd say emo is closer to metal than punk rock.

  • if you take a look at the roots of the emo-music (not the "culture") you can see it came from punk and grunge music in the 90s and started to take over indierock-influences..

thats a fact. but anyway, only because of that it has nothing to do with punk, grunge or even more not with metal, except of guitares and screaming.. and that nothing to compare.

so, now we could clear that, can we leave that punk & emo shit behind us? I'm here for metal, not for emo-discussion (why cthulhu, why!)

  • why the FUCK is everyone talking about emo and punk music on a fucking doom metal band video? get real people.

  • @HAYDS510 Ian Mackaye of Minor Threat was in the emo band Embrace and Rites of Spring was the first emo band, they were obviously punk rock. Modern day emo added elements of indie rock to punk sound- though most of it is gone. Mainstream emo is the shitty kind, and what you may be thinking of when hear term "emo". This was just a grab at money, like all the grunge band that came after Nirvana (like the Stone Temple Pilots) minus the big band that brought attention to emo.

  • i'm not trying to blame you metal guys for emos, just saying.. in alot of ways emo is closer to metal. the clothes, hair, it's not the same but theres alot more in common between emo and metal in that respect. dont forgot the song composition, same kinds of guitar riffs and patterns, heavy palm muting between shredding etc..similar drumming and you both do some kinda devil voice thing even if theirs is gayer. I know you probably stand for way different things, but its got less in common withpunk

  • @SpookiePunkMan well punk had done alot before the 90's, and plus... even if someones influenced by something that doesn't mean the influence is the same thing. they could have just got the message wrong, and ya know...it's common in music for that to happen. but i think these days, if you're to beat up some emo kid and take their iPod...you'll probably find it's got more metal on it than punk rock. punk = dont give a fuck. emo = give a crying fuck. the principals are polar opposite.

  • @HAYDS510 Ever heard of Emotive Hardcore? From the 90s? It WAS influenced by punk, then it turned to shit with the pop influences.

  • This is what Sonic Youth would have sounded like in an ideal Heavy Metal world.

  • Right, "Punk Is Dead", real hopeful.

  • @FillInTheBlankReddit just checked them out...yes i hear what you're saying. however, Most faggy reclusive kids these days relate to metal alot more than punk rock, (provided we dont lose track of what punk rock actually is). Emo is about miserable defeatist hormone imbalanced dicks with makeup who think the world is out to get them over petty suburban middle class woes like breaking up with their 1 week girlfriend. Punk Rock is hopeful and taking no-ones shit, not dwelling on it like bitches.

  • @HAYDS510

No, emo grew out of hardcore punk in the 1980s.

Rites of Spring was one of the first emo bands.
