Big time congratulations to Buena Vista for coming back again in 2011 and sticking it up their asses again in the Japan Cup!! You can never count this mare out of any race, because the big stage is where she's always thrived!! Given the disgraceful D.Q. of her win in this race a year ago, there couldn't have been a more deserving winner of the 2011 Japan Cup than Buena Vista!! Well done to a class race-mare!!
I thought Dar Re Mi being disqualified and Stacelita being placed as winner of the 2009 G1 Prix Vermeille in France was about one of the worst disqualifications I had ever seen in a G1 stakes until I saw this race. Horrible decision to strip Buena Vista of this win. It was almost nonexistent contact anyway. Which had absolutely no bearing on the race's outcome. I'd really love to see Buena Vista right that wrong by winning this year's Japan Cup, and leave no doubts. JMO.
This must be the worst racing decision I've ever seen in a major race in a major racing nation. This horse won by 4 lengths! And the interference was minimal at best. I suspect that most other racing authorities would have thrown this out and considered the protest a waste of time. Is this why so few international horses bother going to japan?
@GBeret83 I am not saying that B.Vista wasn't necessarily best in the race, she won by a little under two lengths, but you and the rest of the folks are not seeing the head on shot of the stretch. I happened to see the head on, and V.Pisa first fouled R.Kingdom by coming out, and then after that, B.Vista comes in and takes R.Kingdom's path away. If you wathced the TVG footage, Todd Schrupp and Simon Bray caught it right away, and stated it immediately after the finish.
the japanese can make cameras but apparently they don't really know how to use them. that camera work was atrocious. came to the 2 furlong pole and then get a close up of the pacemaker. dq'd winner makes her move and the camera pans down to the rest of the field. hard to tell what the winner did wrong as the camera didn't folllow her move. that pelusa in 5th looked quite handy as well.
@GBeret83 May not happen in Great Britain or Ireland. It is irrelevant anyway. Japanese rules apply here. In Australia or New Zealand she probably would have been disqualified, and not just had the placings 1st and 2nd reversed. I'm not sure that she is the best turf horse in the world. If she was, she would have done 2.22 instead of 2.24. She is good, but not special.

it is because the jockey is not Japanese, that's why JRA regulated the winning horse to second...
