horrible documentary, / apply the same rationale with the Nazi's regiment of concentration camps,basically the same thing, its just the difference in the death scale and the groups targeted. Lastly think about the soldiers environment, they are miles away from home, they just got out high school and are drafted away to fight for an idea that their government is imposing to another country. How can they rebel or refuse when the military at that time had much power enough to control their actions

The idea was to wipe out the communists, it was found out later they attacked the wrong village and only 3 communists lived there. Not even active communists. And Americans wonder why they get slated.

My Lai was no accident ! The opposite was right !
They systematically destroyed any village and killed all people - including babies for "humanitarian reasons" because they could not leave them alone among the death families. This was the result of a US anti-Vietnam war verteran conference I saw in a 16mm film where blood young veterans under tears tried to explain how military leaders (against official rules) psychologically tricked the young newcomers to be prepared for such killings.
