What's with the broom?..Why not just let the car run out of gas and stop?
rogmam203 2 months ago
@rogmam203 The broom trips the kill switch on top of the car. You shut the car down after the run is clocked to stop unnecessary wear and tear. The engine break easily as they run at very high rpm

These things amaze me. How do they work? I know they're essentially an engine on wheels, but does the momentum force on the cable open the throttle or something?
bankslord 3 months ago
@bankslord The throttle is set to wide open, the cable and centrifugal force keeps the car on the track. Since it's WOT and one gear, The car needs to be pushed off (horsed) and then several revolutions around the track are required before the motor gets up to an efficient rpm. Pretty cool when you hear it rip live at the track.

@GoRacingWantagh So its just the natural acceleration of the engine? Immense. I guess the cable is just stretching over due to the force too? If one of those cables snapped i guess they'd be some damage! Great stuff. What CC are the engines?
bankslord 2 months ago
@bankslord The engines are 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 5 and 10 cc. There is a lot of info on the web now about tether car racing. Google "tether car wiki" and that will give you a great start. There are links that will give you updated world wide records of the various classes.
