The great sage Ramana Maharshi, Paul Brunton's spiritual teacher, gives us some invaluable advice on the quest. Ramana did famously live most of his life near the sacred mountain Arunachala. Most of the images are taken either from the mountain itself or the immediate surroundings. The great temple that can be seen in many of the pictures is situated at the foot of Arunachala and is dedicated to Shiva.
The long quote used in the video is taken from the first page of a great book I have called "The spiritual Teaching of Ramana Maharshi"(with the exception for the last sentence, which is taken, somewhat condensed, from page 2).

  • This music is from the 1976 remake of King Kong. Great soundtrack!

  • Correct. I actually bought the CD after watching the film on TV a couple of years ago. It's one of John Barrys best ever scores, or so I'm told by people who are in the know.

  • Finally I uploaded the documentary "The Sage of Arunachala" with official permission. I would invite everyone to see it.

  • Truth!

  • OM Bhagavan ~

  • While putting this little video together, I spent many hours on the Net looking for images and reading about Ramana. I was then astounded at the sheer beauty of Arunachala and of how revered the great Indian sage still is in his homeland to this very day. It sure seems to be a most magical place.

  • Thank you, dear friend, for your nice comment. Very much appreciated. And yes, it was Arunachala you spotted. Although there are many videos about Ramana here on You Tube, I felt that it was appropriate for me to honor Brunton's great teacher here as well. Brunton was of course a great admirer of Emerson, so the 3 of them are linked in a mystical way.
