This reciever is not going to rival high dollar equipment! The amplifier section is anorexicand the power supply is weak! You couldn't get me to place a Sony ES receiver in my home theater even if it was free! I own a few different peices from Sony but I wouldn't waste money on there receiver. The gui menue looks nice, the front panel looks nice, there are plenty of connections on the back. But Sony recievers just do not sound that great, it is a shame.

I did a comparison between the two Sony ES receivers I own. There isn't any audible difference between the STR-DA2400ES and the big STR-DA5300ES. Only difference is the feature sets.

I own this reciever, are you kidding? This receiver rivals the HIGH end HIGH dollar crap for a fraction of the cost. I paid $1445.00 shipped, cant beat this unit.

Over the past few years, the differences between standard Sony products and the "ES (Elevated Standard)" line seems to be getting smaller and smaller.

Despite the extended warranty, is there even a difference between the two lines anymore?
