150mW 405nm Blu-ray laser vs white matches

My 150mW 405nm blu-ray laser (built from a 6x burner diode by Kenom of Kenom's Korner) lights white matches with little difficulty. The first one took a while because I have shaky crack addict hands and I needed to find the focal point of the laser.

if i were to make one with the same specs as this would it be able to melt snow? i would think so

generally white reflects too much of the energy for that to be possible, but I've never actually tried it myself so it could be possible.

Can you see the beam from this in daylight or at night?

It's very, very visible at night and faintly visible during the day, but only indoors.

@MotocrossMasters you can make a simple (LM317 constant current driver)

or you can buy drivers online for around 5-10 bucks. If you go the ebay route you will still have to adjust the right mW. They can handle about 80-500 mW.

If you make the lm317 driver you need to buy a few parts and need to have some skill with soldering and circuitry. You will still have to adjust the right mW. They can handle 1-1,000 mW
