Remote Camera Head - How it works

Hi, two questions if I may.
With the pan motor at the top of your rig, it looks like you have the motor & pully attached to the top section with the other pully attached to that same section - How does that work if both parts are attached to the same section? If obviously does but I just see it in my head.
Can you tell me if the pulley wheels are: Synchroflex T5 x 10mm (Part No: 4621-122) and are you using a Synchroflex Timing Belt T5 x 10mm x 260mm (Part No: 4661-260)
Many thanks 4 ur time

@hoarp001 I plan on making one of the servos move the bottom plate. It doesn't need to move more than 180 degrees and that's what my servos can do. U are right about the extra needed electronics for the secondary motor. I picked up a ESC today and that plugs into the receiver so instead of 2 servos i have one motor and one servo, both reversible and variable speed. - with a quarter mile range haha. I finished building my custom tripod today to hold my Jib - its homemade too check out my channel!

That is nicely built remote head. Well engineered and thought out. Motors are a bit noisey and have a fair bit of backlash in them, but putting a simple spring loaded belt tension on would help. But you've done well so far and by making it yourself, allows you to improve the existing design. :-) BTW you sound like Dom Joly on this clip.

Thanks so much for making this video .. i've just completed my jib , which coincidentally also uses BMX bike forks , and i've completed the frame for my pan tilt, I have shaft and timing pulley's arriving this week. I just need the bearings and i'll be ready for motors. This video sold me on the AX500. i was looking at that control board anyways. I'm planning on running 12v motors, that AX500 will handle that right ? I think i remember seeing that in the specs
Anyways
Thanks again

this is nice.
pretty old video but what are your thoughts on a totally remote controlled rig? I have a remote control setup for an older gas rc car. The controller is electronic and provides variable speed to 2 servos. One of which will be replaced with a high torque motor to spin the entire rig. This will enable all moving parts to stay on the u shaped jib and have no cables to tangle up except for the hdmi out of the camera.
thoughts?

@b2dmastersniper You could do that, just bear in mind that servos when plugged into normal RC electronics only turn 90 degrees. Also the output from the receiver is pwm so you wont be able to plug that into a high torque motor without some other electronics in between. The AX500 board I am using here to control the head came with a little harness that allows you to plug it directly in to an RC receiver unit, so you can control those motors through the AX500 using an RC receiver.

is that mounted on a jib??

No, the head was just hanging from the celing, its where I put it to test it.
