I don't mean to criticize, but if the color in the video is correct that steel is significantly overheated, looks to be pretty solidly in the yellow range and even possibly in the light yellow or white to me, unless the video color is way off. seeing how long its taking to cool off leads me to believe its pretty hot to. Also the press dies look like there cooling the steel pretty rapidly, depending on what steel it is that can be pretty detrimental.

this isnt very right. the lips of press are very cool compared to hot blade. and blade needs to stay hot for forging, reshaping. machine makes the outsides cool when pressing and it causes hundreds of little cracks on the surface. its not durable like hammered one.

great press, i have 32 tons forging press but just bought it from another knifemaker and i will first run it in about week or 2. For sure ill create a movie :)

Actually it's only about 30 tons, the steel moves easy when it's hot! The dies are made from semi truck "king pins" very hard! -- Jon
