That's a great way to leave a child with a good impression of law enforcement now isn't it. "I remember when my dad was hauled off to jail and police shot my dog..." It's complete stupidity to execute a warrant at night on a home where there are others not subject to the warrant present. The war on drugs is no different than alcohol prohibition. If they know where the suspect lives there's no reason they can't stake out and arrest away from the home if it's really that necessary.
