so little refresher. Rebecca has leukemia and needs a bone marrow transplant. Joe was a perfect match, so he gave marrow. He started feeling sick and passed out and is in the ER. Other things: Rebecca is confused about how she felt when Joe kissed her forehead. Riley has been worrying that something happened with Joe and Demi while they were filming Camp Rock. Demi came along when the guys so she's there too. Mr. Cooper has been working a lot. the couples are: Joe and Riley, Nick and Rebecca, and Kevin and Lauren.

[in Lauren's P.O.V. Nick just had a breakdown and Lauren's trying to calm him down. Nick just said, "Lauren, how... how did everything get so messed up?"]
I hugged him and said, "I don't know."
"He shouldn't be in this position. Rebecca shouldn't be in this position. None of us should."
"I know, it's not fair, but God gives us only what we can handle."
"But I can't handle this!" he shouted, pulling away. "I can't. I can't. I can't." He slammed his fists on the the wall. "I can't be this strong. First the girl I love. Then my big brother, who was just trying to save my girlfriend. It sounds selfish, but I'm not strong enough to handle all this."
"Hey, look at me," I said, putting my hand on his shoulder. He slowly turned to me. "You can be. You are. You are one of the strongest people I know."
"Really?"
"Yes. How many people do you think would be able to do all you do, traveling all over, working long days, making music, making movies, while still doing well in school and being an amazing brother, son, friend, and boyfriend, all while facing something like diabetes? You are strong because you face all that every day. And you enjoy most of it too. It takes a strong person to do what you do. So that strength is in there. You just gotta find it and remind yourself of how much you can do and handle."
"Thanks Lauren."
"Nothing to thank me for, and we're gonna get through this, okay?"
{Riley's P.O.V.}
I stared into space. We still hadn't heard anything. Announcements came over the speakers. None of them meant anything to us. A couple kids ran around the waiting room. The nurse called out someone else's name. The phone rang. It rang again a few minutes later. Someone got something out of the vending machine. The bottle made a loud sound coming down. The person's change jingled coming out. The clock ticked. Time passed. And passed. And passed. We still heard nothing.
It wasn't until almost 11:30 that Dr. Charleston came over. I immediately started shaking a little. I knew it wasn't good by how he was carrying himself. Blake still held me.
"Joe seems to have come down with guillain-barre syndrome, specifically Acute inflammatory demylinating polyneropathy or AIDP. [A/N so when I was trying to figure out what to do with this story, a family friend got guillain-barre and it just kind of clicked] It is a rapidly progressing paralysis that starts with weakness in the legs and moves upward. It is very serious, but with the proper treatment and time it can get better. Because the paralysis can and in Joe's case did affect the diaphragm, we had to put him on a ventilator and it is breathing for him right now. He is unconscious and until he starts breathing on his own, he will remain that way. We have him on IVIGs which stands for immunoglobulins which we will keep him on for 5 days. The critical period is right now. If he can regain his ability to breathe on his own, things will start looking up. I don't want to get ahead of ourselves, but you should know, this will be a long process even in the best case scenario. We don't know how long it will take to even reach breathing on his own and then the paralysis will improve slowly."
"Will he walk again?" Kevin Sr. asked quietly.
"Well, like I said, we're getting ahead of ourselves, but most people eventually regain all function, but it could take a year or more. There's no way of telling."
"And singing?"
"Well, with the ventilator there is a chance of damage, but it is unlikely. If anything, he may just have some temporary problems controlling his speech, but in that case, he will just need some speech therapy."
There were more questions, more explanations, more instructions and prognoses, but I didn't really hear any of them. I just zoned out. This wasn't happening. It couldn't be. Hadn't we had enough crap happen to our two families already? Apparently not because i snapped back when Dr. Rosenberg came out saying, "I'm so sorry. I know you all don't need another problem right now, but when Rebecca heard about Joe, she refused to take any more marrow."

Oh my gosh!! I'm so glad you posted this again, I was really curious for what happened to Joe! This is all so sad, but I have a feeling that Joe will be okay in the end :) YES WE WANT THIS STORY :P

It's been like what? 3 weeks since i've been on! tons of chapters to catch up on. gotta get caught up on the other story! and of course i want this story! by the way... rebecca better keep taking it. i'll be so disappointed if she doesnt.
