@mrr30 sounds wack? yes cause the user...it doesnt matter the amount of sounds loops hard software/hardware you have if you have no music skills.
on the other hand maschine is great. the stock sounds are superb.
maybe theyll fit what you want to do maybe they wont...
but thats why it lets you sample and use your own sounds too...and honestly speaking maschines stock sounds are way better than any FL studio sounds i would know i own FL and Maschine is a great addition to any setup

would you recommend this for an amateur?

shit

isnt easier just to sequence and everything str8 in pro tools or whatever else you use. thats what i do, i just drag and drop my sounds into pro tools, and sequence the drums in PT, then i use virtual instruments to lay down the other stuff.

Its the software that comes with the Maschine. Its all part of the same package.

I was really surprised - probably 5 or 6 years ago AKAI came out with a USB device and some software but didn't go anywhere with it....

What the ...
808 style drum machine ?!
Have some respect for the classics man!

The Maschine is based on the idea of the MPC - the first MPC came out in 1988 and it was built on the idea of the TR-808 from the early 80's. Just stating the lineage. No disrespect....they all have their place....but the Maschine is really amazing.

Hey I understand what you're saying, but by naming it a 808 style drum machine most of us will think 808 style TR-step recording (16 buttons in a row to press and not 16 pads in MPC-style - you know what I mean :) ).
I'm also very interested in Maschine, thank you for this demo!
ps: how did the hardware unit feel?

Yes - you can change it from MPC mode to a step sequencer - he just doesn't show it in the video. It's very cool - and has a good feel.
