@Gwestiel you're right, it probably IS a matter of preference. And don't get me wrong, I usually prefer to watch movies with the original audio track, mostly because sappy quotes often sound only half as funny as in english. But it can be different. Regarding discussions like this, the TV series "The Persuaders" comes up to my mind. In the original version, the series flopped, and no further episodes were made. With the (humorous) german version (written by Reiner Brandt), it was a success(!).

@TheColinChapman if that were true Bruce Willis would've used a lower voice in the first place. as an actor he should be able to do that. but the role didn't really require that. Maybe it's just a matter of preference. i understand that some people would prefer a "manlier" voice from that sort of role.

@Gwestiel partly true, but only partly. In 2 out of 2 cases, you are right. But there are situations where a dubbed version can be even better than the original. For example: Bruce Willis' german voice is Manfred Lehmann, and the sound of his voice matches Bruce Willis' roles (such as the role as 'John McLane' or 'Harry Stamper') better than the original falsetto voice.
-
@TheColinChapman It's weird for me to understand that concept since in my country we don't dub anything. Why would you want to miss out on the original performance. Think about it: say an actor wins an academy award for a performance, but in Germany you don't entirely get that award winning performance because it's dubbed. It doesn't make sense to me why people would spoil that.

@Gwestiel I like the german dubbing. Her voice is Katja Nottke, she is also the german voice of Michelle Pfeiffer.

Translation for Finnish people:
Mika: Voinko auttaa?
Nainen: Kiitos.
Mika: Eipä mitään.
Nainen: Aika urheilullinen auto.
Mika: Vruuuum, vruum
Mika: Se on muuten diesel..
Nainen. Joo takuulla ja sä olet F1-kuljettaja.
Mika: No totta kai.

Why did they have to dub it? I prefer Mika's voice, even with a not-so-perfect accent.

this commercial is so funny, for all of you who don't understand it: Häkkinen said to the woman that this car is a disel car and the women said: all right and you are a formula one driver. sorry for my bad english.
