(5522) Tobacco plants product BEAUTIFUL flowers, and after they're pollinated, they form seed pods. When the pods are fully brown (dry) on the plant, it's time for harvest. Each pod contains 75-150 seeds, sometimes 200, and are about the size of a grain of sand...... or smaller. It's amazing how such a small seed can product such a big, BEAUTIFUL plant reaching 7 feet tall with 2-3 foot long leaves! Astounding! And one plant can produce up to 100 flowers, which can mature to many healthy clusters of individual pods. So even just ONE plant is capable of producing thousands of seeds.

This video discusses how the seed pods are harvested, and methods for storing them. Also shown is an example of what can happen when a seed pod is plucked too soon.

Enjoy, and happy gardening! :)
