All Mine to Give (1957) starring Glynis Johns, one of the saddest movies I've ever seen, certainly the saddest Christmas movie. This is the first half of a sequence from the middle of the movie that gives the basic plot idea. You have to watch the second half, posted separately later, to get the idea.

My grandfather had this same story in his own life. Born in 1907, father died from TB in 1918, mother in 1921. Many children, who were split up. A real-life tragedy.

@stevenheong I bought this movie this past January at a Big Lots near me for a few bucks. Perhaps you might be able to find it there this Christmas season if you haven't bought it already.

A wonderful little movie with a lot of pathos, but a lot of heart as well. The ending is so bittersweet it makes you cry. Highly recommended.
