This is a boxing drill to develop sport specific endurance. It is broken into three segments: 1st is a combination then move to the right and around the cone. 2nd is combination and move to left and around the cone. 3rd is combination and alternate left/right movement after circling around the cone. This can easily be turned into a 3 person drill, instead of using the cone, the boxer who just punched moves to the back of the line. The demonstration is 3x30sec but the suggested is 3x1min.

  • I don't think this will build punch-specific endurance will it?

  • @mankillsquare most accurately, this could be titled "Boxing Endurance" with punches. the ideal in boxing is to move-punch, move-punch, move-punch, etc. when teaching, it is best to use patterns, so this is a pattern drill of move-punch, move-punch. the (active) rest period between punches is not enough for an adequate recovery of ATP-CP. within 2-3 minutes you are into the aerobic energy system (approx 70sec is anaerobic threshold), which means this is working muscluar & power endurance.

    Thanks!

  • he is to close to the bag fore straight punches. Move the cone farther back and then go : ) Otherwise good drill.

  • @croccofanto good observation on the long punches. IMO, the cone position doesn't have much to do with it. If it was farther away that would create a longer entry time, which is not the effect I am looking for. If i was coaching from the side (camera view), like i normally am, I would have had Tyrone adjust his range to his stationary target. Taking two steps instead of three could also be a quick remedy for this. Thanks for watching!
