An acrylic model made in 1981 of what is believed to be the earlist geared mechanical calendar device. The model was based on drawings made by a scholor during his study of the bronze fragments in the early 1970's. The few original fragments were found in the Aegean Sea in 1900 with other material from a ship wreck near the island of Antikythera. This replica is on exhibit at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, PA.
Made in 1981? Much has been worked out since then, they've realized it's much more sophisticated than they thought...

Are there any kits or plans available to build one of these at home? This would make a great educational tool.

it would be cool if there was a model of this you could buy and use at home or even a computer generated one that you could use on your computer
