An acrylic model made in 1981 of what is believed to be the earlist geared mechanical calendar device. The model was based on drawings made by a scholor during his study of the bronze fragments in the early 1970's. The few original fragments were found in the Aegean Sea in 1900 with other material from a ship wreck near the island of Antikythera. This replica is on exhibit at the National Watch and Clock Museum in Columbia, PA.

  • Made in 1981? Much has been worked out since then, they've realized it's much more sophisticated than they thought...

  • Are there any kits or plans available to build one of these at home? This would make a great educational tool.

  • it would be cool if there was a model of this you could buy and use at home or even a computer generated one that you could use on your computer
