A short video showing how to insert headers and footers in a Word document. For more tutorials, visit http://lawrencefine.com/tutorials

Keep your documents organized and professional looking with headers and footers. These are the items that appear outside the main body of any document. These can either be the company name, document title or page numbers.

In the Insert Tab in Microsoft Word, click on Headers. This will give you a list of choices from blank to ones with fancy styles. Select the header you want and type the text you want to appear. The header will appear in all pages of the document.

You can also add dates or page numbers that automatically update. Just click on Date & Time in the Insert Tab, and select the date format you want to use. Be sure to tick the Update Automatically if you want it to change every time you update the document.

Inserting footers is the same as inserting headers. The most common use for footers are page numbers. Like headers, footers will automatically appear in all pages. Page numbers will automatically update as you add new pages.
