Elektra One performed the first flight on 19 Mar. 2011 at the Augsburg Airport in Germany. Jon Karkow, an well known test pilot and aircraft engineer performed the first flight. Flight characteristics and engne parameter were tested. The test pilot was very satisfied with the results. Three flights were performed. The climbing rate was 400 ft/min. A new 30 min. flight was performed on 23 Mar. Only about 3kW from the total on board of 6kWh energy was used. IN the next two weeks the new variable pitch propeller and the retractable landing gear will be installed.
Thanks for the whole team who contributed to this success !!!
Inspiring indeed. Danke schön Herr Gologan!

@princepersia1 Gear ratios work best for internal combustion engines due to the torque loss between the multitude of moving parts. An automatic variable gearing system would be best for the electric car, but come on which hardcore standard automotive buff would actually fall in love with a car that they can't choose which gear to throw it in, I hear you.

@Scorpion85629 Yh the Tesla is a POS, I don't know why they made it. Who wants a 1 gear car which takes years to charge and isn't fast. 0-60 might be fast but the top speed is turd and it's just too expensive and just stupid. This plane however is awesome.

Do they make ducted fans? I want to build an electric jet. Imagine an electric BD-10.

@princepersia1 I take it you hate the Tesla Roadster, Tesla Model S, and the Citroen Survolt then.

Fuck that's cool, I hate electric cars but I'm sorry this plane is AWESOME. The noise level, the efficiency OMFG I want one ahahha :D

Haha I just watched this, at the start I was thinking "when will he go to full power?" Then I realized this is electric. :D Just shows how used you are to noisy dirty petrol engines. Cool plane!

Saw this puppy at Oshkosh. Even though you could describe me as a slight opponent towards electric aircraft, I was thoroughly impressed with it's performance. This is a step in the right direction for electric aircraft given it's stronger relationship to a sailplane than your run of the mill Cessna.
My only real knock on the aircraft was that it did float a bit on landing. However, It's obvious why and I'm just used to VERY short runways where I fly.
Great work, PC Aero!

@alex3261 I was wrong when I said 90 Minutes, 3 houres is possible with the akku pack

@alex3261 The latest news I heard form the inventor is, that there are now 2 lithium-akku-packs on board. 1 is enough for 45 Minutes flight. Greetings from Germany
