SMEDA: Women Business Fair concluded in wide public appreciations June 23 & 24 2009 at PC Hotel, Lahore Pakistan
The two-day Women Business Fair arranged by Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) at a local hotel to commemorate 2nd Anniversary of its Women Business Incubation Center concluded here today achieving great success by bringing a huge number of middle class families to the venue. Mr. Shahid Rashid, Chief Executive Officer, SMEDA, while addressing the concluding ceremony as Chief Guest, assured that SMEDA would plan more women business exhibitions to help out women entrepreneurs in marketing area. He was confident that such activities would prepare business women to participate in the international trade fairs.
The closing ceremony was also attended by Syed Iqbal Anwar Kidwai, GM Outreach, Mr. Sultan Tiwana, GM, Business and Sector Development Services, Mr. Liaqat Ali Gohar, Convener, Organizing Committee, Women Business Fair, Ms. Aisha Amjad, Project Director, WBIC and Mr. Rehmatullah Javaid, Chairman SME Committee, FPCCI.
CEO SMEDA said that basing upon success of the first WBIC at Lahore, government of Pakistan had decided to open 14 more Centers for development of women enterprises in the country. He affirmed that the experiment of holding Women Business Fair had paved way for holding more Women Business Expositions in Lahore as well as in other business cities under aegis of SMEDA.
In the end, CEO SMEDA distributed certificates of participation among stall holders amid a large number of visitors. He also awarded prizes to the stall holders who won first, second and third positions in the best stalls competition as per decision of the Jury set up in this regard.
The participants expressed a warm gratitude to SMEDA CEO on this occasion for organizing a quality exhibition for women entrepreneurs along with an interesting set of family entertainments like Puppet Show, Lucky Draws and Magic Show, that helped the local citizens come out of prevailing depression of terror as well.
The exhibitors urged SMEDA to organize such events on regular basis in future to enhance marketing skills of women entrepreneurs.
The visitors appreciated SMEDA to link the Women Business Fair with IDPs by deciding to deposit total amount of stalls fee in the Prime Ministers Relief Fund set up for victims of terrorism.
