I've gotta hand it to Lauren. She stays really composed and level-headed right throughout this awkward interview. MES is a rude, surly prick how anyone can have the patience to deal with this sad old punk is beyond me. Some think it's clever, artistic or cool to be like this when it's really just a sign of insecurity.

'I've heard it's a fantastic record' - and that's why the interview failed. If you want an easier ride from someone like MES, at least make it sound as though you've bothered to listen to his work. Nearly all of LL's questions are designed for cheap laughs, until at the end she tries to bring it round with 'so what you listening to at the moment?' Too late.

Smith isnt a twat at all. The twats are the people who assume he is a celebrity and therefore should happily give nice pleasant informative interviews. Smith clearly assumes that he's just himself, and why should anyone be that interested. Bloody good attitude if you ask me.

He's having a laugh, whether she knows it or not. He strikes me as being an absolutely top bloke. And Lauren Lavern seemed to do fine. I think the Grauniad really rather overplayed this one.
