Once upon a time in the Kensington Market in 2007, people gathered for an open-invite KM5T 54K rooftop film screening of a 16mm version of "Battleship Potemkin" with a vinyl record playing of Lenin's speeches and a live performance of an instrumental score with the "cymoascope".
The cymoascope is a simple electro-magneto-mechanical device whose main part is an elastic metal spiral, whose vibration caused by the player's hand excites a magnetic pickup (from a guitar) and converts the vibration to electrical pulses which then run to a multi-effects programming device, the mighty Digitech RP7, the output of which can be heard blasting through the Peavey Bandit amplifier speaker.
An improvised performance, the full length of which lasted the whole film and weaved in and out of scenes in various harmonies.
