Dave Bexfield went through an experimental NIH-sponsored clinical trial for his aggressive multiple sclerosis. The risky but potentially groundbreaking treatment required over a month of testing, three weeks in the hospital, and intensive rehabilitation. The 13-minute video of the entire experience details everything from the insurance denials to the effects of chemotherapy to the ongoing recovery. Bexfield also runs www.ActiveMSers.org, a nonprofit website designed to help, motivate, and inspire those with multiple sclerosis to stay as active as possible—physically, intellectually, and socially—regardless of physical limitations. For more information on his adult stem cell/bone marrow transplant or to reach Dave, visit the website.

Thanks: Laura, Mom, Dad, Karen, Kathryn, fellow Active MSers, all the HALT-MS participants, Wendy (both of you), Baylor and MD Anderson staff, and the artists/ music that empowered me.
