@thespiritmage Maybe so but it's an introduction to an artist where few would know about her had the the film not been made. From here perhaps some will read about her. If not, at least, they know she existed. Some might make an effort to see her work as well. Would you rather some idiot let Bradgelina or Bennifer or Lohan with her ankle monitor play this role? That would have been a real disaster.

@killerbunny123123 I took it out of the library at L'Alliance Francaise de Chicago. There maybe an alliance that has it where you live. You can try fnac.fr but make certain the DVD is American format not PAL.

This movie is a (literally) gross misunderstanding of the accounts of a talented artist and a huge insult to feminism. If you knew the history of the REAL Artemisia Gentileschi, you would not look highly of this film.

I think it's very important to realize that although the movie suggests otherwise, Agostino never did admit that he raped her, and many people thought her to be a whore. She was a very strong woman, living in a time where she never even received proper appreciation for her work because she was female.
