This is a video of the Straight Dance as demostrated during the National Powwow in Washington DC Aug 2005. This dance started on the Plains amongst several tribes such as the Omaha,Ponca,Otoe,Osage and others. Over time it has changed most notably now days the small bustle that he is wearing is no longer used in Contest Powwows. I am sure there are exceptions out there.
It is a graceful and gliding kind of Dance, the very best in this dance catagory make it look smooth and effortless.

  • That's Hollis Stabler, Jr. and that's his Individual Song, composed by John Turner (Omaha).

From what I've heard, it's the first time it's been sung since it was composed.

VERY! Beautiful song, rendered here by Yellowhammer.

  • Beautiful. Aho!!!!!!!!!!
