Multimedia performance of a poem in Filipino by E. SAN JUAN, Jr. (published in SALUD ALGABRE AT IBA PANG TULA by E. San Juan, Jr., University of San Agustin Press, Iloilo, 2007; and with accompanying English translation in BALIKBAYANG MAHAL:PASSAGES FROM EXILE, North Carolina: LuLu.com, 2007).

"Punta Spartivento" is the name of the pier and harbor at the promontory of the city of Bellagio, Italy, in the region of Lake Como.

Salud Algabre is one of the heroic women leaders of the Sakdal rebellion in the Philippines against the U.S. occupation forces and its colonial native clients in the 1930s. We offer part of Salud's message here:

"We did what we [Filipinos] ourselves had decided upon--as free people, and power resides in the people...No uprising fails. Each one is a step in the right direction."

MABUHAY SI KA SALUD! MABUHAY ANG PAMBANSANG DEMOKRATIKONG REBOLUSYON!
