Dory Previn: Now, if a man is so desperately trying to prove his masculinity, it is most likely—and this applies to a female also, it is most likely, I would think, because he is so frightened of any feminine or female aspect in his makeup. Now, what happens is when someone overdevelops one aspect, its opposite, by virtue of defense, keeps getting stronger and stronger—because there's a war, there is a conflict that is going on within the individual. The result is that it's a death struggle. It's a fight to the finish. And usually, the weaker aspect kills the stronger. Because something which is strong, impenetrable and inflexible cracks and crumbles; something which is weaker gives and survives. (February 1, 1972)

I love Dory Previn... she is IMHO a most intelligent artist and vocalist.....

I always loved this song. My mother played this, and other Dory Previn albums, in the 1970's and my brothers and I still refer to the songs. The harpsichord is perfect and the lyrics are sublime.
